Limited-Edition Bicycles
The bicycles in our limited edition gallery were designed and manufactured by the skilled craftspeople at Shinola. Some were briefly available for purchase while others were one-of-a-kind designs never available to the public. This gallery provides a glimpse into the history of our bicycles that are hand assembled in our Detroit Flagship store.
The bicycles in this gallery are not currently available for sale with the exception of the copper-plated Bixby and Runwell Bicycles.
A limited number of copper-plated Runwell bicycles are crafted each year and sold in select stores.
Built in a limited run, this bicycle uses a Shinola women's Bixby frame built at Waterford Precision Cycles in Wisconsin. The fenders, crank, chain guard and front rack were copper-plated in Detroit and to keep the polish bright, we clear-coated the frame, fork and components after plating. The bicycle was displayed in the booth at Baselworld, and has been shown at a number of events and retail stores. This bicycle is available for sale in select stores.
Because there’s nothing we love more than a challenge, we produced this bicycle to see whether we could manufacture a frame with the same luminescence as the numbers and hands on our watch dials. To achieve its moonlight glow, the Shinola Runwell frame, fork, fenders and chainguard were sprayed with lume paint. After being displayed prominently in the Shinola booth at Baselworld 2014, this true one-off was moved back to our Detroit office where it hangs today.
The Wright Brothers™ limited edition Runwell bicycle was built to honor the Wrights Brothers’ incredible contribution to America's history of innovation and industry. The Wright Brothers™ 11-speed Runwell marries the enduring style and predictable handling of our American-made lugged steel frame and fork, made in the US from US and imported steel, with a jet-black finish, sleek bamboo fenders and a bright headlamp. It was produced in limited run of 25.
Our refurbished 1969 Schwinn Twinn tandem was discovered at a bicycle flea market in Ohio in the spring of 2013. The first step in refurbishing the bike was to remove all of the original parts and strip the worn paint from the frame. We then repainted the frame in gloss black, added the Shinola lightning bolt logo to the chainguard and riveted the original head tube badge to the front of the bike. We cleaned, de-rusted and painted as many of the original parts as possible in order to maintain the integrity of the history of the bike. Original hubs, cranks, seatposts and stems were painted matte black to match the frame prior to reinstallation.
Classic styling meets the performance benefits of race-proven shifting and braking technology in the limited edition Runwell Di2. Lightning quick, push button shifting, handlebar-mounted LED control panel and on-demand lighting make The Runwell Di2 a classic, convenient bike. We built The Runwell Di2 with our own aluminum front rack, black alloy fenders and fender-mounted super bright PDW FenderBot taillight. Cables, wires and Di2 battery are internally routed.
Custom built for the 2013 Baselworld watch show in Switzerland, this brass-plated bicycle was made as a limited edition of one and was not offered for sale. The Shinola Runwell frame and fork were built at Waterford Precision Cycles in Wisconsin from US and imported steel, and then brass-plated. The bike’s fenders, crank and chain guard were also plated. To give the bike a certain sensibility, after plating, the frame, fork and components were given a patina, and we added a vintage front lamp. Following its run at Baselworld, the bicycle has been shown at a number of events and retail stores.
